[T]he superstition that the budget must be balanced at all times, once it is debunked, takes away one of the bulwarks that every society must have against expenditure out of control. . . . [O]ne of the functions of old-fashioned religion was to scare people by sometimes what might be regarded as myths into behaving in a way that long-run civilized life requires.

The Democratic party grows a spine
Here's a perfect opportunity to get a thumb in the eye of the Republican party, seating a Democrat senator who has clearly won the race, instead of waiting for the outcome of legal challenges that are likely to fail.
But no: even when they're clearly right, the majority Democratic party yet again cowers in fear before the disgraced, repudiated Republican minority. If there were just one Republican holding elective office, every Democratic politician would be frantically clawing their way to the head of the line to lick his ass.
The Democratic party has clearly resigned its membership in phylum chordata; how soon will they depart the community of multicellular organisms?
Is it any wonder I've gone communist?

Please pick a handle or moniker for your comment. It's much easier to address someone by a name or pseudonym than simply "hey you". I have the option of requiring a "hard" identity, but I don't want to turn that on... yet.
With few exceptions, I will not respond or reply to anonymous comments, and I may delete them. I keep a copy of all comments; if you want the text of your comment to repost with something vaguely resembling an identity, email me.
No spam, pr0n, commercial advertising, insanity, lies, repetition or off-topic comments. Creationists, Global Warming deniers, anti-vaxers, Randians, and Libertarians are automatically presumed to be idiots; Christians and Muslims might get the benefit of the doubt, if I'm in a good mood.
See the Debate Flowchart for some basic rules.
Sourced factual corrections are always published and acknowledged.
I will respond or not respond to comments as the mood takes me. See my latest comment policy for details. I am not a pseudonomous-American: my real name is Larry.
Comments may be moderated from time to time. When I do moderate comments, anonymous comments are far more likely to be rejected.
I've already answered some typical comments.
I have jqMath enabled for the blog. If you have a dollar sign (\$) in your comment, put a \\ in front of it: \\\$, unless you want to include a formula in your comment.

I DON'T KNOW HOW CAN AMERICANS NOT RIOT AND NOT REVOLT AT ALL !!
ReplyDeleteTHE MAJORITY OF AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE SUFFERING, ONLY A FEW 20% TO 30% OF US CITIZENS ARE HAVING THE TIME OF THEIR LIFE AND THEIR LIFE OF THEIR TIME.
THE USA-LEFTISTS SHOULD DEMAND A PROLETARIAN-DICTATORSHIP RIGHT NOW TO SOLVE THIS DIRE SITUATION
The people of USA are facing a terrible situation really. Even Hugo Chavez in 2006 was already talking about the dire, bleak and negative situation that the majority of American citizens are facing. The majority of americans are in poverty, in Wal Mart low-wage dead end jobs, and those are the lucky ones who are employed.
About 25% of Americans are unemployed, there are 80 millions living in poverty and about 40 millions living in under-poverty levels. I think you need an update on the economic situation in USA
And i heard that 2010 will be much worse, there will be a hyperinflationary currency meltdown of the whole economy, where the dead people will rise up from their tombs and eat us all alive. And i really don't see a light at the end of the tunnel, but instead a big train which will crush us all alive in USA.
.
Due to mathematical limitations, my eyes can roll only 360-degrees. The Republicrats have my eyes pegged at 360.
ReplyDeleteAnd THEN there is Orblama's pending nomination of the criminal Dennis (the menace) Blair to be head of US intelligence.
The Empire will crumble sooner than I thought.
