Clinton vs. Trump

Looks like Clinton will be the Democratic Party nominee for President; we already know Trump is the Republican nominee.

I won't vote for Clinton in the general election.

  • She voted for and supported the Iraq War
  • She supported Bill Clinton's mass incarceration of poor and black people
  • She supported Bill Clinton's destruction of welfare
  • She's openly in the pocket of Wall Street and the parasitic banks

Maybe she will be less bad than Trump. Maybe Sanders will use his popularity to move the party platform to the "left". It doesn't matter. I will not and cannot vote for her. If enough people feel that way, Trump will win. So be it. I didn't offer a Devil's bargain to the voters.

The Democratic Party lost my support in 2007. They have done nothing to try to win it back. They won't do anything to win it back. Fair enough. I'm marginalized from the political process: the Democrats do not want my vote, so they won't have it. Their choice, not mine.

  1. A vote NOT for Hillary is a vote for trump(I only capitalize proper names, and there aint nuttin proper about trump!). But is enough people vote 3rd party (greens or something else) trump still wins but sends the message "Ya he won, but y'all still suck!!!"

    1. I concur. And I'm with Yves Smith (see today's post): a Trump victory would probably not be as disastrous as some fear. The inertia of our political system limits losses as well as gains.

  2. I will be voting Green, I believe, although I really wish that the Greens and the Libertarians weren't BOTH running the same candidates they ran in 2012.

Eugene Debs once said, "It's better to vote for what you want and not get it than to vote for what you don't want and get it."

If you had a choice between two types of foul juices in the store, you wouldn't choose the less foul juice. You'd go to a different store.

    1. I'm with you on Debs' quotation; that's going on the blog header!

I'm not sure I understand why you "wish that the Greens and the Libertarians weren't BOTH running the same candidates they ran in 2012." Perhaps you might elaborate a bit?

    2. The problem is that going to a different store does not matter as one of the foul juices will be forced down your throat anyway!

Please pick a handle or moniker for your comment. It's much easier to address someone by a name or pseudonym than simply "hey you". I have the option of requiring a "hard" identity, but I don't want to turn that on... yet.
