A Jewish plot!

Breaking news! Evolution is a Jewish deception!

According to a memo allegedly approved by Georgia state Rep. Ben Bridges, "[T]he teaching of evolution should be banned in public schools because it is a religious deception stemming from an ancient Jewish sect."

Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.

(h/t to Talking Points Memo)

Update: Apparently, even reporting on this story is evidence of some sort of liberal hysteria.

  1. I thought this originated with a Texas lawmaker?

Anyways, it doesn't hold a candle to Martin Peretz (the arbiter of all things authentically Jewish, apparently), accusing George Soros of being responsible for the Jet Blue delays. Damn those anti-Semitic Jews! They control the weather!

  2. According to the news stories, it originated with one of Georgia State Senator Bridges (R - Box of Hammers) staff and then was picked up and later repudiated by Texas State Senator Warren Chisum (R - Obviously).

I predict we'll be seeing a mention of Rep. Bridges again early next week.

  3. I'm not sure that any reporting of this is liberal hysteria. But I'm a little jaded by the whole Glenn Greenwald-ish fear of the Vast Right Wing Noise Machine of the Creationist Wingnut Zombies Under Our Beds Who Want To Steal Our Freedoms.

And They are going to get you, too.

  4. It's a good thing I just finished reading The Zombie Survival Guide then. My Ruger and my katana are in the mail...
