Morality Without Gods: Part 2

Morality Without Gods: Part 2

Tuesday, March 3, 6:30 - 9:00
New York University
The Silver Center - Room 703
100 Washington Square East

Across the planet with unjust wars, uncertainty & convulsions in people’s lives, belief in gods and religion is rising. Broad controversy and debate rages over god, atheism, faith, and science. Last November, an overflow crowd came out at NYU for Morality Without Gods: Part 1. Don’t miss Part 2, when 3 non-believers will discuss their views on:

  • If you don't believe in god, where do you get your morality from?
  • Why is science not just "another belief system”?
  • Could we/should we do away with belief in gods?

  1. But, but, I thought Ray Comfort had already settled this question. Without gods, we're immoral by definition.

  2. THE PROBLEM IS THE CAPITALISTS AND RIGHT WINGERS HAVE TWISTED THE REAL HISTORICAL JESUS DOCTRINES AND THE BIBLE TEACHINGS WHICH ARE SOCIALISTIC IN NATURE INDEED !!

SOCIALISTS SHOULD DECONSTRUCT THE RIGHT-WING IDEOLOGY OF MOST RIGHT-WING CHRISTIAN CHURCHES

ONLY JESUS CHRIST, MARX, TROTKSY, LENIN, AND LIBERATION THEOLOGY CAN SAVE USA FROM SATAN AND THE DARK FORCES OF THIS WORLD!!

Only love, Jesus Christ, Marx, Trotsky, Lenin, Mao, Liberation-Theology, humanism, forgiveness, morality, peace, and a total spiritual change in each american citizen can save this country from collapse !!

the house of lucifer and the dark forces of this evil world are at the powerful monetary and military entities: The Pentagon, IMF, White House, World Bank, Bilderbergs, etc.

  3. Sorry, M-S. Jesus is just a character in a book and superstition — however well-intentioned — causes more problems than it solves. We have to learn how to face reality without the crutches of gods, prophets, and priests.

There are no supernatural causes for our problems, and no supernatural cures. Our problems are material and — because human beings are material beings and individual and social psychology are material phenomena — the solutions must be material as well.

Please pick a handle or moniker for your comment. It's much easier to address someone by a name or pseudonym than simply "hey you". I have the option of requiring a "hard" identity, but I don't want to turn that on... yet.

With few exceptions, I will not respond or reply to anonymous comments, and I may delete them. I keep a copy of all comments; if you want the text of your comment to repost with something vaguely resembling an identity, email me.

No spam, pr0n, commercial advertising, insanity, lies, repetition or off-topic comments. Creationists, Global Warming deniers, anti-vaxers, Randians, and Libertarians are automatically presumed to be idiots; Christians and Muslims might get the benefit of the doubt, if I'm in a good mood.

Sourced factual corrections are always published and acknowledged.

I will respond or not respond to comments as the mood takes me. See my latest comment policy for details. I am not a pseudonomous-American: my real name is Larry.
